Niki is a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals and became one of the original members of the United States District Court mediation panel in 1992. Niki’s accomplishments have evoked the praises of many, including commendation by the Ohio House of Representatives and Governor George V. Voinovich after he facilitated the settlement of 1993 Lucasville Prison riot.
He brought about a settlement in the dissolution of the Cincinnati Health Alliance, allocating hundreds of millions of dollars in assets and obligations to the major hospitals of Cincinnati. As a result of his efforts, each party in the dispute made concessions to arrive at a resolution. The United States Department of Justice had sought more than $1 billion in damages.
